An advanced weaving project, that involves choosing an inspiration and working on it. The step was to abstract the inspiration to simpler visuals. Then I had set up a total of two warps on the dobby loom to weave samples based on the artworks created.
My inspiration was the constant play along the shores of the ocean. The way the water interacts with the rocks and sand, the rock formations caused by the water, and the ever changing art created by the waves. I read somewhere, that the waves write poetry along the shores, but keep erasing them to write something better every minute.

2.5 dimension study:

Weaving on the dobby loom:

The first warp followed one direction of artworks as shown. The techniques used were primarily quilting, with samples of differential take up and exchanging of layers. The yarn used for the ground warp are two colours of linen, and cotton was used for the stitch warp. Drafting was pointed and in blocks. Emphasis was on the texture created by the weaves.

The second warp followed another direction of artworks as shown. The techniques used were primarily double cloth, with samples of differential take up, exchanging of layers and terry. The yarn used for the face warp are two colours of cotton, and art silk was used for the back warp. Drafting was straight and pointed and in blocks. Emphasis was on the contrast of shiny and matte.
